Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona and other senior Government officials are in Istanbul, Turkiye, for the International Road Federation (IRF) World Congress 2024. The congress, which starts today and ends on October 18, is being held under the theme ‘Connecting to Empower Mobility: Roads as Enablers of a Sustainable Future for all.’ Minister Mhona is accompanied by Zinara board chairperson Dr George Manyaya, Zimbabwe Traffic Safety Council board chairman Mr Kura Sibanda and managing director Mr Munesu Munodawafa. Also attending the congress is the Ambassador of Zimbabwe in Türkiye, Mr Alfred Mutiwazuka, and officials from other countries. Minister Mhona will this afternoon address a ministerial session where he will be talking about decarbonised and resilient transport. Held every four years for almost seven decades, the IRF World Congress has represented an opportunity to celebrate the road and mobility sectors as enablers of growth and development. The congress includes a technical conference, an exhibition, and technical visits. It provides a unique platform that supports thought leadership, business development, education, and overall successful partnerships in the industry.
